Height Safety Case Studies

Height Safety Case Study

Falls from height are the most common cause of fatal injury and the second most common cause of significant damage to employees today. Fall protection is now a vital issue for all businesses whose employees need to operate at height.

Bahramco Global was asked to investigate the supply and installation of a fall arrest height safety system at a major Utility Company. On completion of a site survey, our Engineers reported their recommendations under the latest legislation;

EN 795:2012 – Personal fall protection equipment. Anchor devices.

EN 353-1:2002 – Personal protective equipment against falls from a height. Guided type fall arresters, including a rigid anchor line.

On review of the Engineers report, it was apparent that the building would require a horizontal fall arrest system around the roof’s perimeter. This would eradicate any future possibility of employees or contractors being put at risk.

Access to the roof was required for;

  • Gutter and skylight cleaning
  • Roof surveys and repair
  • The lift shaft engine room maintenance and repair
  • Maintenance to other equipment like air-conditioning and extraction units

Our team of Engineers are OEM trained and certified to install safety systems and provide the all-important routine examination and certification service.

From the quotation through to the start of the project Bahramco Global provided;

  • The design and installation of the height safety system
  • All the access equipment required for the project
  • In-depth Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure our safe systems of work were being carried out.

The final part of this installation was to ensure that the system and ancillary equipment (harnesses, traveling devices, and lanyards) were on our automatic reminder system. This guarantees reminders are sent out, ensuring the equipment is maintained by the current standards and regulations.

Bahramco Global is trusted to ensure worker safety on a wide range of buildings and structures and throughout various industries, such as aerospace, energy, utilities, and telecommunications.

Our qualified Engineers have also installed horizontal and vertical height safety systems on;

  • Bespoke military shipping containers.
  • Vessels at sea, including tugs, ferries, cruise ships, and motor yachts.
  • Offshore wind turbines.
  • Schools, Universities, Colleges, and Academies.

All users of personal fall protective equipment should be suitably trained in ‘working at height.’
